Gossamer spinner - supported spindle made in Dymondwood and Montana

This lovely medium size supported spindle design will be a delight for the spinner who loves a supported spindle. It is extra light weight (23.5 g or around 0.77 oz ) and 9.75 in (245 mm) long. Diameter about 65 mm (2.5 inches).

The spindle shaft is made from Dymondwood which will resist warping with humidity changes, is very hard and strong and gives a long lasting durable spindle. The spinning point is made from a titanium insert.

The thin large diameter whorl design adds duration to the spin while keeping the overall weight low.  Dymondwood  is used for the main disc of the whorl, with the rare Queensland wood Montana used for the trim under the whorl. The spindle is finished to a very smooth surface, polished with a french polish and then a final gloss of carnauba wax for a long lasting shine and protection.

Your spindle is made by Jory Freyee and Malcolm Fielding to one of Malcolm's designs.

Your spindle is checked for quality and spin before despatch and comes with tip protectors and is packed with some Tasmanian Merino roving and a signed tag with the woods used listed and date of making.

This spindle style has a remarkably long spin and excellent balance due to the adjusted whorl. The spindle operates at a high speed and is very easy to flick. The large diameter means it will hold a large cop.
