Tulipo Support Spindle. This heirloom quality spindle is a handmade item, designed and made by Jory Freyee in the workshop of TheSpindleshop. .

Signature Series is made with the same care and attention as all my spindles, however, the Signature Series is made from the most pretty bits of wood I have, the downfall to those super pretty bits of wood is that they are usually very out of balance and need a lot more care and attention to get to the wobbleless spin i have for all my spindles. This means more of my time is needed and therefore I put more care and attention then usual. I also try to enhance the look of each spindle with the most special of inlays. Every Signature Series spindle will be the best spinning and best looking spindle i can make, if it has the Signature Series seal then you know you will be receiving something very special indeed.

You will receive a spindle very similar to the one pictured. All my spindles are tested before despatch and drop spindles come with a free sample of fiber from Tasmania.

The shaft is made in Frogwood. This is the perfect material for support spindle shafts as it is strong, durable and will not warp. The shaft has a delicate curve in to the top point, which is shaped with a slender section where it is flicked then to a well shaped smoothed top point, to allow the yarn to slip the point easily.

The bottom point is made from very hard titanium alloy and designed for an effortless long spin and a lifetime of use. A support bowl is needed for using this type of spindle. One of our turned frogwood-centred spinning surfaces is ideal and these are usually in stock. You can also use glass or ceramic support bowls. Light wood support bowls are not recommended for use with any metal-tip spindle. The spindle is polished with a high shine French polish and a final gloss of carnauba wax adds durability. This spindle style has a long very fast spin and perfect balance.
